A park employee unlocks secrets about Yellowstone’s violent past as he seeks a cure for his sudden werewolf affliction.

Short Summary

On a breathtaking Yellowstone mountain trail, our hero is dumped by his summer fling moments before their co-worker is mauled to death by a grizzly. Days later, heartbroken, he happens upon a cave painted with indigenous symbols, and a malevolent fog near a huge skeleton imprints itself onto him.

Protagonist is living with said summer fling on a ranch owned by a shape-shifting indigenous park ranger: an antagonist-turned-ally. Yellowstone quakes and a specific, blue hot pool empties: a geothermal pool that is the only thing keeping the protagonist and the ranger from killing each other.

Development Pitch

[Semi-finalist in ScreenCraft's Cinematic Book Contest 2018] This novel reeks hit (CGI-contributed) 'wer' feud between modern day werewolves and werebears; episodic or in movie format. Either way, the ending in this story (which follows the 'Save the Cat' plot structure) is extremely inciting as a reemerged battle has just begun. A conflict brought on by an uncovered, ancient shaman curse, this story's foundation is solid and explained in a manner never-before seen. Its ominous mountain setting (think Twilight) mixed with its characters' trials sets the tone as they strive to understand their curse's origin and reemergence. What Happens in Yellowstone is currently in the pipeline and set to be published by an indie publisher in 2020, something I believe will draw even more viewership. Yellowstone is constantly in the news; buffalo attacks, elk attacks, people slipping into geothermal features. It's overdue to explode and kill the continent. It's visited by millions of internationals and Americans every year. Be the first to give them a story they'll never forget.

About The Author

Greg Marchand is a Medical Laboratory Technician, U.S. Army veteran, and a former Yellowstone culinary apprentice who has authored the horror-adventure novel, What Happens in Yellowstone. From writing articles for his high school yearbook, to penning influential radio scripts on foreign soil for the U.S. military, Greg has always found a passion for writing. Salty that he hadn’t watched or read a new and proper werewolf story in decades, he utilized his creative passion to create the Yellowstone-based novel that was listed as a semi-finalist in ScreenCraft’s 2018 Cinematic Book competition. Years of working in Yellowstone as a kitchen boss and exploring its backcountry allowed Greg to find the perfect niche in our modern world where disaster can strike and make for a great novel. When he’s not cursing medical laboratory instruments for a living, Greg is in his downstairs mancave hashing out creepy novels and stories, P90x-ing, and defiling his banjo. Occasionally, he emerges from the basement depths to cook for his wife and stepson, and to take the dogs down to the river.
