Development Pitch

At this present time, there’s a great need for books to make us smile. This is that rare event: a comedy written by a woman. It takes the reader on a journey from the poor suburbs of Birmingham, England, to the sun-filled lifestyle of SW France. En route, there are chapters about French communities, language, French workmen, markets, playing boules and much more. But essentially, it is real-life adventures with the unexpected humour of one culture clashing with another. Already it is a 4 times international best-seller and in its digital form, nearly a million pages have been read so far. This proves there is not enough accessible laugh-out-loud comedy for all the family to enjoy. It would be wonderful if this could be transferred to the big screen also, so that a greater audience can enjoy it and overcome for a little while the difficulties in this world. This submission certainly fills the bill. You can read the first few pages under the Look Inside feature on Amazon: mybook.to/pensionersinparadis I plan to write its humorous sequel shortly, explaining why and how we returned to the UK, and the impact of Brexit.
