    Brief

    While straddling the veil between life and death, the greatest mysteries of a man’s life unfold before his very eyes.

    What We Liked

    - The premise of the seeing the transition between life and death is really interesting;
    - The characters are well drawn and integrated nicely together within the story;
    - Truths are revealed and mysteries evolve throughout each vignette from the characters’ lives to form a coherent narrative;
    - A feature adaptation of the story is probably the most logical vertical for development. The esoteric view of the veil between the worlds is very cinematic. Unraveling an entire life has the sweeping nature expected from a big screenoffering;
    - Adapting the book into a television series could be interesting. Each episode could feature a different character’s point of view from their own reality that will shape the totality of the story;
    - Sequel/franchise potential;
    - Big concept, and unique premise;
    - Explosive Hollywood style ending.

    Synopsis

    Steve Houston finds himself in out of body experience. He’s floating, he’s drowning, he is reminded of times in childhood when nasal blockages would cause oxygen deprivation to infiltrate his dreams. In this state, he sees a woman he recognizes with a sharp object and wonders if she is trying to kill him.

    He begins to realize that he is actually dying and the fabled phenomena of having your life flash before your eyes in death is upon him. In this strange limbo, he is shown a dome full of doors that are labeled on lintels above.

    The labeled doors open to reveal unfolding moments from his life while he watches as a passive observer. The moments cover his unconventional childhood growing up on a small Caribbean island, his mother’s mysterious and violent death, his career as a multimillionaire inventor, his love life, betrayal at the hand of the woman he loves, and his battle with terminal cancer.

    As the end rapidly approaches, he is brought back from the brink. The mystery of his mother’s death has been solved, the identity of his real father has been revealed and he has learned to forgive and trust the love of his life.
