Development Pitch

Just Lucky involves a unique hero--a young man with a permanent physical disability (his left arm has total nerve damage) that devoted himself to over compensating. He's also highly intelligent and above average in height and looks, His college years living in a dorm allow him to acquire good friends and meet Ellie Sparks, an attractive girl two years older and unique in character. He gladly surrenders his virginity to her, but though they like each other a lot, they are never in love. His sophomore year he meets Audrey Lyle, a very pretty and slim young woman that runs distance events in track. Ron and Audrey fall very much in love, but Audrey is then murdered horribly by a drug dealer as revenge against her brother, a deputy sheriff. Ron and Audrey's brother hatch a plan to goad the killer into a confession, but plans go awry and Ron is nearly killed, but does achieve bloody justice.

About The Author

Fred Waiss was born and raised in Colorado. Once he learned the wonderful and world-expanding skill of reading he became permanently addicted. As a youngster his idea of reading the newspaper was reading the comics page and the sports page, and he proudly admits that in that particular he has not matured at all—but now his "newspaper" is on line. At age ten his father introduced him to science fiction and Robert Heinlein in particular, which led to his reading science fiction for pleasure almost exclusively for the next ten years. The "almost" means he also read Tolkien, Howard, De Camp, and others in the fantasy genre. Like so many sf fans, he started writing the stuff as well as reading it. He graduated from college with a degree in Education with majors in English and physical education, but teaching high school had more stress than reward so he chose another career path. He still misses the coaching aspect, but not the classroom. He and his wife live in Wisconsin along with one small dog (it used to be three) that believe laps were invented for their benefit. When he's not working or handling the necessary home chores he writes mostly speculative fiction and romance both in short stories and novels. He also writes a blog and miscellaneous on his website, www.fgwaiss.com. He says the best things about technology is the internet for research and email for submitting writing.
