Short Summary

Scot's (18-white) integrated community of survivors are massacred by white nationalists. Left for dead, Scot is saved by Coby (10-black). When Coby's family is also killed, Scot and Coby join an alliance of survivors and befriend Kimberly (20-black) a bright leader torn between seeking war or peace.

Scot, Kimberly, and other survivors join an uneasy alliance to combat hate, protect their loved ones, and put an end to the fever of white nationalism. Their path puts them on a collision course with supremacist armies which they are able to defeat through persuasion, and when that fails, battle.

Development Pitch

Reaper Moon echoes the social divisions and growing intolerance happening in the US today. It invites readers to be moved, even outraged, by the resurgence of racism, sex trafficking, and white nationalism plaguing our local and global communities. Controversial and current, Reaper Moon wrestles with complex, painful, and divisive sociopolitical issues, but not without offering a vision of hope and faith in a better future. A diverse cast offers a variety of characters that will resonate across demographics. Gritting writing and action will appeal to viewers accustomed to the Wire, Games of Thrones, and The Sopranos while offering the cultural relevance of Dear White People, The Watchmen, and Insecure. While the 300K word novel could be structured into a film, its length and scope provides sufficient material for as many as 3 seasons of television. Depending on budget, episodes could be written around a single lead and tracking with their arc, or with an ensemble Shooting and production costs could be kept low with many exterior scenes filmed in natural light. In post apocalyptic world, make up needs are minimal. Costumes could be collected at nearest secondhand clothing shop.
