Development Pitch

In the early eighties President Reagan announced his Strategic Defence Initiative, an Anti - Missile programme. In the late eighties, Twenty-two UK scientists working on SDI met with fatal Accidents โ€“ A year later the Cold War ended. Set in the Nineties โ€“ L.A. / The California Deserts / London โ€“ This project has its genesis in the above events. The book hit Amazonโ€™s Top 30 Thrillers in 2017 and won a literary award. Lake was a Scientist and the Marketing Director of Virgin Records โ€“ Both elements are present in the narrative. Snatches of original ballads by a Bafta winning songwriter together with Iconic Rock Tracks, add highlights and subtext. โ€˜ The Pioneering, Paranoia, California Thriller.โ€™ - Sunday Times. It straddles PG13/R. The tone reflects RED, although the BBC went with EASY RIDER meets DR. STRANGELOVE. Irvin Kershner - โ€˜ Three people are threatened by dark Governmental forces and survive by the strength of the human spirit. It is a metaphor for our times. I want to make this Movie.โ€™ Kershner felt this project was Empire Strikes Back in a contemporary setting and provided notes. A recent chairman of Bafta provided additional notes. Morganโ€™s a failed Quarterback, but a Renaissance Man. A fast arm, speed off the mark and a good eye. But that eye also saw things others might miss. Beauty, even in the simplest things. These qualities are stretched when faced by his own demise and the uncovering of the greatest Homeland Conspiracy since The Wall came down.
