Accuracy of Book Profile

The book profile does accurately depict the story minus that the ending doesn't make it clear that Benito died in the end which the development pitch does discuss. The pitch and the summary are a bit similar so the pitch might elaborate more on the lessons and themes of the story to add further information to the profile.

Draw of Story

Benito saving his anti-hero savior is a heartwarming experience. Benito is strong and full of an incredible amount of emotional investment. The wrestling world's theatrics is also compelling.

Possible Drawbacks

Sometimes the dialogue when Charlie is Charlie as the antagonist before the transformation, his meanness lacks subtext and depth. It is hard to humanize the antagonist without understanding their motivation for treating others so hideously.

Use of Special Effects

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that Benito's father dies in a car crash shortly after Benito is supposed to recover from cancer. He watches his father's death with his own eyes. His connection to Charlie is vague but heartfelt and the life lessons role swapping is expected but sweet.

Fanbase Potential

Depending on the genre this could be have a medium audience or if Charlie's life is toned down this could have a larger audiences as a family or children friendly drama.

Awards Potential

Depending on the child actor for Benito, there is some potential for their nomination as there is a lot of trauma and strong themes. There would need to be a fine line though of how saccharine and saintly Benito is depicted as to make him fully three-dimensional.

What’s New About the Story

The originality of the story stems from Benito's mentor relationship with Charlie. Even though the adult is supposed to help the child, they are the one who ends up getting transformed. By creating more depth to Charlie's inner conflict at the beginning, his transformation could be even stronger and more realistic.

Lead Characters

Benito is brave, strong and unfailingly kind. Charlie starts out as a certifiable jerk in every which way he possibly could be, but his attempt at selflessness for Benito eventually blossoms to other aspects of his life until he becomes a reliable and accountable person.

Uniqueness of Story

The relationship between Benito and Charlie is special but could use certain adjustments to even out their bond to make Charlie's contributions to Benito more equal.

Analyst Recommendation

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

Making Benito's internal conflict and emotional arc more apparent with influence from Charlie would help strengthen their bond on a non-idol level. Making Charlie as influential on Benito as Benito is on Charlie would also help their unique relationship seem even more authentic. The motivation behind Charlie's antagonistic beginning could be more refined rather than making him a jerk without context at first.
