Development Pitch
Led by a Hunger Games style, Katniss; as coming of age as Rob Reiner’s Stand By Me, and as mystical as the discovery of snow walkers from Game of Thrones; the Slingblade Trilogy traces the days of a middle school trio as they combat an ancient curse, ghosts, bullies, shape-shifters and an ongoing battle for self-respect. Last year’s race turned into a battle- the bully Nigel won and lost the same day. Swearing revenge he disappeared, his body a withered shell of its former self. Melvin, stung by another year of defeat becomes exiled in his own world. Curly, wracked by guilt at starting the devastating chain of events, sought to rekindle the friendships lost. A stranger appears, age wise close to the trio, but life wise decades apart. He has mysterious amounts of money which has caught the attention of the sheriff, romantic eyes for Wanda – hate for the lecherous adult that haunts her - and a desire to be part of the group. Rumors run wild that Slingblade has reappeared. But it’s no rumor that Great Despair Mountain has reawakened – casting an ominous pale green glow over the town. What price will the Modoc spirits demand this year? What form will the spirit take - and what revenge will they demand?
