About The Author

Cindy Baldwin is a retired teacher of “at-Risk” teens from southern Wisconsin. The youngest of five in a lower to middle class family, with two older brothers, and two older sisters, she often felt like an only child. The two boys would be off doing whatever boys did, and the two sisters being very close in age were always either doing high school girl things together or trying to scratch each other’s eyes out! Either way, Cindy learned to do things alone. Things like drawing, daydreaming, and yes, writing. Unlike her siblings she developed a love of reading in grade school. It blossomed when her Mother signed her up for a book of the month club. By high school she sat in study hall sketching, reading books and writing somewhat dark poetry and stories. Surprisingly her friends, the cool kids that gathered outside at the gas station, loved her stories. They often asking her to read something while they smoked cigarettes and drank Mountain Dew during lunch break. They encouraged her constantly and it felt good to be praised by her peers. Soon she began to turn out a couple poems or rhymes a day. She wrote dark birthday cards for my friends Mostly low caliber, but it sparked something that kept growing and never stopped. It was from this, the heart of a writer was born. Stories, poetry, creative writing classes. Nothing ever published. Some forty-six years later, she presents her true story of a little German Shepherd puppy who owned her soul, and an unexpected lifelong friend on her book; Best of Breed an extraordinary Rose. So here you are, not she, you. Reading a somewhat sketchy Biography, written because it was required, not about things she feels. Her work is a mix of fact and fiction, fact dramatized. She would hope that you are getting ready to enjoy a part of one of her novels or short stories Welcome. You’ll find her life has been somewhat mundane, but her mind has traveled places only her readers can truly know.
