    Accuracy of Book Profile

    The profile is accurate.

    Draw of Story

Technically advanced human aliens integrating into Earth's population is a great story idea to draw the audience in.

    Possible Drawbacks

It is a tad predictable that the Regulus is going to be villain so ramping up to that revelation causes the story pace to drag a bit. Masking his villainy a bit longer may be helpful and cutting anything that doesn't move the story along might be a good option as well.

    Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

    Primary Hook of Story

A human with ADHD as the unlikely hero makes for a great hook.

    Fanbase Potential

Science Fiction is a popular genre. There is space travel and romance as well. Since there is a little something for everyone in this story, there would most likely be a large fanbase for adaptation of this trilogy.

    Awards Potential

This is probably not an awards contender with the exception of a potential nod to the effects.

    Envisioned Budget

    LARGE BUDGET

STAR TREK REBOOT, I AM NUMBER FOUR, THOR, JOHN CARTER

    What’s New About the Story

The story is already pretty original and it's really nice to see a character with ADHD represented as the central hero.

    Lead Characters

The character of Chase stands out not only because of his ADHD, but because of tremendous integrity and problem solving ability.

    Uniqueness of Story

This is a solid story. Perhaps quickening the pace a bit could be helpful.

    Possible Formats

Film - Studio, TV Series - Network, TV Series - Cable

    Analyst Recommendation

    CONSIDER

    Justification

It is quite commercial and marketable. The story and characters are strong and there is potential for a robust franchise to built around the book series.

    Brief

A race of technologically advanced humans from another planet secretly inhabiting Earth come across an earthling who is immune from their mind control. He falls in love with one of them and when an attempt is made on her life, he uncovers a sinister plot that only he can stop.

    What We Liked

    - There is a really nice love story between an earthling and a Caelan that symbolizes tolerance and acceptance. A character suffering from ADHD and his special talents as a result of the disability is another wonderful way to show tolerance and acceptance of those who are different. There are nice space sequences and a simple plot perfect for the centerpiece of the trilogy.
    - The story is perfect for a feature adaptation. The love story as well as the scenic potential within would be appealing to audiences. With three books in the series, it is perfect for a franchise package deal.
    - Combining the trilogy of books for a television adaptation could be interesting. With the aliens existing on Earth under the radar and Chase as the hero, there are many storylines that could stem out of the basic premise. His ADHD could be a big part of how he is able to solve whatever problems arise.
    - Key points: Strong female lead; A main character with a disability; Franchise potential; Love story; Strong premise

    Synopsis

A race of technologically advanced humans from the planet Caelan have been secretly living among Earth’s human inhabitants. They are able to blend into society and use a mind-control ability called Psy to bend others to their will. The Caelans are usually a peaceful lot, but some of them have been recently affected by anger which threatens to disrupt their their way of life. Chase Madison is an unremarkable Earth native. He suffers from ADHD and has come under scrutiny from the Caelans because he is immune to effects of Psy. A Caelan named Cadence is assigned to watch Chase and make sure that he doesn’t cause them any trouble. He befriends and soon falls in love with Cadenace’s younger sister, Avery. She is engaged to a powerful and influential fellow Caelan called Nathan. Avery was shot while with Chase and he used Caelan technology to save her life. Fearing he is not good enough for Avery, he tried to stay away from her and her family. He unwittingly is soon to be thrown back her life.

A photographer called Pete McClouth sees a Carina, one of the Caelan’s stealth spaceships. He has footage of it and the Caelans feel that his knowledge of their existence endangers them. They drug him and lock him up in an institution. Chase cons his way in to the institution to free Pete and is shocked at the state in which he finds him. The two Caelan doctors who have been drugging Pete seem remorseful once they seemingly come out of a trance and see how Pete was being treated. Chase calls Nathan, who is posing as McClouth’s lawyer. Nathan claims not to have known who Pete was being treated and promises to let Pete go as long as he agrees not to release the footage of the carina. Baffled at the change of heart he saw in the doctors, Chase becomes a bit suspicious that something nefarious may be going on within Caelan society. Since he can’t be controlled by Psy, he decides to go in search of the man who shot Avery and hopefully get some answers to his mounting questions. He tracks down the shooter and ultimately discovers that he is a Caelan named Landcaster. When Chase confronts him, Landcaster is regretful and explains to Chase that he was under the influence of Psy when he attempted to shoot Avery. Landcaster tells him that he has now been emancipated from the Psy and will no longer be a danger to Avery, but reveal who used Psy against him. When Chase learns about emancipation, he realizes that is what he witnessed with the Caelan doctors when he freed Pete. It is clear to Chase that Avery and her people are still in danger and the danger is coming from one of their own. When Chase goes to warn Avery and Nathan that she is in danger, he ends up crashing their engagement party. Though she is engaged to Nathan, it is clear that Avery is happy to have Chase back in her life and that she may even be in love with him. She asks Chase to help discover what is causing the Caelans’ anger.

Chase attends a convention run by Darcia, Cadence and her husband, Gavin to discuss the anger problem. Chase is somewhat famous to the Caelans due to his immunity to Psy and they welcome his guidance. During the seminar and subsequent discussion, Chase rationalizes that the newfound Caelan anger is stemming from jealously. As the people of Earth catch up and begin surpassing the Caelans in technology, they are becoming resentful and angry. Everyone seems to agree that is likely the cause. Chase is allowed to go for a ride in a carina with Avery as a reward for his help. Avery enjoys taking Chase on the trip and sharing all the wonders of space with him. She confesses that she is in love with him and that she is going to break off her engagement to Nathan as soon as they get back to Earth. When they arrive back Nathan is furious about Avery’s betrayal. Chase soon uncovers a plot involving Regulus Lafaye, the powerful Caelan ruler on Earth. The Regulus is quite affected by anger and he plans to use Psy to take over as the ruler of the people of Earth and stop their technological advances. Using emancipation from Psy to gain leverage over the Regulus and his cronies, the Caelans and Chase, using his unique way of thinking afforded by his ADHD, all band together to save the day.
