Development Pitch

This is a buddy road trip story with a modern twist, set in the art museums of Boston and Philadelphia, and on the road in-between. Following the death of his mother, newly-wealthy Isaac grapples with his obsessive-compulsive disorder and hypochondria. At first house-bound, he eventually starts spending all his time in the museums of Boston, where he decides that he needs to have a copy of an antique chocolate grinder built. Isaac takes a slow road trip to Philadelphia with two buddies, Greg (another obsessive-compulsive) and Kelly (an art historian who is brought in as a driver) to pick up his commissioned chocolate grinder and visit the work that inspired it, Marcel Duchamp's 'Large Glass'. Greg finds solutions to the problem of living inspired by meeting a beautiful woman, Abeni, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which houses the largest collection of Duchamp's works. The story tackles issues of mental illness, the value of art, and the meaning of a life. It is a story of how one man struggles to overcomes his limitations through his love of art and ideas, his desire for a better life, and his quiet courage. The characters are strong and quirky. The story is humorous and inspiring, while rooted in everyday life.
