I was three years old when I felt the love of God. I often stand in the middle of our bed, hands lifted high, singing to God. While singing I felt something running from my head down to my feet, I found out later that it was God's anointing on my life. I married a man who abused me and our children.
My husband constantly threatened to kill me if I left. After years of being battered I made up my mind to die. I went on seven days fasting asking God to deliver me in life or in death. At the end of the seven days fast, my husband beat me into a pulp for sex. I went to the cops and then moved out.

I see this book as a film or TV series in that it is a true, painful life story. I would like to see Carlene's relationship with God as a very young child until she was a grown woman in film. Her dedication to her husband and children, she was always cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, going to work and going to church. I would like to see on film how her husband did not care or appreciate anything that she did for him, how he would beat her night after night for sex, he demanded sex seven days a week two or three times a night and if she resist him one night, he would beat her. I would like to see how the two girls woke up late at nights fearful and crying because their dad was physically fighting their mom, and how Kim came into the bedroom one night and shout at him to leave her mother alone, instead, he chased her out the room. I would like to see on film how Beast abused his own child Laddy, verbally and physically for simple foolishness or whenever he wants to pick a fight. I would like my story to be heard because I must be a voice for abused, battered women and their children. Many women are being abused around the world and may think that there's no way out, our children are also affected while living with us in an abusive environment as we unconsciously ignore their emotional pain. Oftentimes we stay in an abusive relationship out of fear or financial difficulties and there is definitely a way out. I believe my story will speak to almost everyone.

Accuracy of Book Profile
Book profile reflects book accurately.
Draw of Story
The story of a woman who stayed for many years with a violent man and managed to escape many years of abuse told by herself is interesting.
The narrative may get confusing. One example is Carlene's origin and her life path, regarding how and when she moved to the United States. Even though the protagonist has gone through abortion, approach to the subject may be judgemental and victimized. Other characters are one sided.
Use of Special Effects
THE STORY RELIES A LITTLE BIT ON SPECIAL EFFECTS
Primary Hook of Story
What would make me watch this movie is understanding the dynamics, so many times difficult to understand from the outside, ruling a violent relationship that may last for many years. It becomes even more interesting when the protagonist managed to survive and get out of such cycle.
It could have a gospel fanbase.
Extreme violence would require very good acting and direction.

What’s New About the Story
The most original thing about this story is that even though the protagonist has endured serious violence and trauma since childhood, she manages to survive and get out of abuse cycles after many years and bring up her children in a healthier environment due to the help of her faith in God and church brothers.
Protagonist Carlene is strong and fierce, and manages to build herself and her children a healthier future against all odds and through her faith.
Uniqueness of Story
Story could be improved regarding narrative, making protagonist's life path clearer and building a sharper arc. Author could add up more layers to other characters besides herself and the Beast in order to make them more interesting and deep instead of only providing her personal opinion.

Tips for Improvement
To be considered, the structures of the story arc should be redesigned in order to create better pace and more captivating and relatable characters for the story.
Carlene was born in a broken family to an abusive mom and spiteful sisters. She gets out of her first family to build her own, but her abusive and extremely violent partner makes it impossible for her to find peace. With the help of her faith in God, she manages to survive, find support and get out of those violent cycles.
What We Liked
This story is interesting because it is told in first person by a woman who endured a violent relationship for many years and is able to describe in detail the difficulties in getting out when the oppressor seems to always trick her into forgiveness and getting a second chance.
Film: It would be a good adaptation for Film as there is a powerful message of hope and faith in good endings to sad life stories.
TV: It would be a good adaptation for TV because there are many passages in which the protagonist is almost able to escape her situation and is saved by her faith in God; but only manages to get save herself and her children after many years.
Key points: A cycle of marital abuse told by the woman enduring it; a successful story of a family who managed to survive violence; a description of how church can both support violent cycles and help families find their way out to a healthier life; salvation through faith in God.
Carlene was born in a broken home to an absent father, a careless mother - whom she calls 'tutor' - and unkind sisters. Very young and devoted to God since early age, and even without the incentive of her family, she continues praying. One day she falls in love with the Beast, who is, in the beginning, a charming guy trying to get her attention. She gets pregnant and aborts their first child with the help of her mom.
Even though Carlene has the option of staying with Von, a nice man who truly loved her, she goes back to the Beast and they have two daughters together. While she is pregnant with her second child, they get married and for a period, the Beast goes to church and gets his life on track. Things seems to be going well, but it doesn't last very long.
As years go by, the cycle of violence gets each time worse, and the Beast betrays Carlene even with her own sisters. He also beats Laddy frequently and his behaviour only gets worse, even though Carlene has the help of the Beast's mom, also a victim of his behavior. Around visions, premonitions and strong prayers, Carlene's plans to stop the cycle are frustrated until she manages to call the police for the first time after many years of abuse.
The beast gets arrested and is bailed out fast, continuing to stalk her and ignoring restriction orders. But, as church members build Carlene a home, the Beast finds another woman and finally manages to leave Carlene, Laddy and Kim live their life free of abuse.
