    Development Pitch

    There is no story like "Horrorscope." "Horrorscope" is the story of a woman who has the unique gift of psychic ability. When the mafia gets wind of her powers, they force her to advise them as to whether or not crimes they are planning will be foiled. AC Nicolo, the mob boss, orders her to provide these predictions or face their wrath (along with threats to her family and neighbors should she not comply). After suffering a heart attack, his younger brother is temporarily "put in charge," and while in charge, uses that temporary power to murder her (while ignoring a prediction that AC never got the chance to open, resulting in the crime being foiled). AC's younger brother never even opened the envelope "not to do that specific crime," (which said not to do it). AC wakes up after surviving the heart attack, believes his younger brother (who lies and says Helen never provided the prediction), and AC orders her murdered. Her murder causes a physical manifestation of the signs of The Zodiac, who then seek revenge for her murder. What makes this story different (besides the plot) is that it is a 62 year old woman who is the "hero of the story." The graphic novel is a "story board" for what we see (only with real people and not animated as is attached). We see this on Netflix or other streaming network. It has IP that could see it spun off into numerous stories, as well as video games and toys. We picture "Cher" as the psychic, someone like her. Strong but older.

    Accuracy of Book Profile

    Book Profile reflects the book accurately.

    Draw of Story

    The thing that drew me into the story immediately is Helen Wilson as a character; her powers, her ethics, her humility and the mystery surrounding her antique table.

    Possible Drawbacks

    Nothing made me want to put the book down.

    Use of Special Effects

    THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

    Primary Hook of Story

    The story is interesting because it is original, it brings elements such as criminality, the mafia and mixes them up with supernatural elements and the zodiac.

    Fanbase Potential

    It could have a large fanbase if adapted because the protagonist is an interesting female character and plot is surprising.

    Awards Potential

    It sure could have awards potential if adapted because visuals required are rich, especially regarding the physical manifestations of the zodiac signs.

    Envisioned Budget

    LARGE BUDGET

    What’s New About the Story

    The most original thing about this story is it's protagonist, an older but strong woman, and the surprising narrative, which begins with a humble and unambitious psychic forced to work for the mafia after she gets killed, it turns into this surprising and supernatural plot of justice seeking with highly visual elements.

    Lead Characters

    Helen is the strong female lead character. Her powers are astonishing, but she remains humble. However, her niceness should not be mistaken for lack of power, something she is able to show in the afterlife with zodiac manifestations.

    Uniqueness of Story

    It is a rare gem as it is a highly original narrative.

    Analyst Recommendation

    RECOMMEND

    Justification

    I recommend it because the story is authentic and the protagonist, an older female with superpowers is something rarely seen on screens.

    Brief

    Helen Wilson is a psychic with extraordinary powers, able to see clearly through people's minds and the future. AC Nicolo's mafia, knowing of her power, obliges her to work for them, but when a robbery goes wrong, Helen is murdered - wrongly accused of misleading them. After her death, zodiac sign symbols materialize as monsters as they seek for revenge.

    What We Liked

    This is a highly original horror story, involving mystic elements and the crimes of a Mafia, a plot of revenge and a powerful female protagonist over 60 - an unusual type of character for this type of narrative.

    Film: It would be a great adaptation for film as this is an unusual horror plot, with trendy elements such as the zodiac signs and a female protagonist which is strong but also older - inspired by Cher, as suggested by the authors.

    TV: It would be a great adaptation for TV as the story brings along interesting elements ready to unfold. Helen's amazing readings and her power over people's lives and the manifestations of the zodiac are able to bring along different episodes, maybe each one themed on a zodiac sign - enabling exciting visuals and horror characters to be developed.

    Key points: Unusual female lead character;
    Exciting visuals;
    Trendy zodiac sign elements;
    Mafia characters;
    Afterlife/mystic themed.

    Synopsis

    Helen Wilson is a powerful psychic. She is able to see clearly through people's minds and also their future. She makes appearances on events and also performs readings for regular people for $25 dollars - which seems too cheap for the accuracy of her visions. Even though Helen was powerful, she was ethic and used her gift to help people, and even solve crimes.

    One day, at a baseball game, she gets the attention of a mobster from AC Nicolo's Mafia by predicting everything that happened in the following minutes. The mob then searches for Helen and obliges her to work for 'the family', as they threaten to hurt people she cared about.

    Her influence on the mob becomes huge as they trust her to know if their plans will turn out ok or not. When AC suffers a heart attack, his brother Mauro is in charge and doesn't open an envelope in which Helen warned the robbery would turn out bad. As things go wrong and AC wakes up, Mauro, AC's brother, accuses Helen of wrongly misleading them - and AC orders her murder.

    Her death results in supernatural events and also physical manifestations of the signs of The Zodiac seeking for revenge. As Detective Howard seeks to solve this crime and witnesses supernatural happenings, they discover the mysterious table she owned came from Nostradamus.
