Police Conspiracy Drama, centered around a generational family of cops. There is a love story mixed in there between one of the policemen and a beautiful musician that he rescues from a domestic assault in the early pages. Also deals with undertones of surviving abuse and forgiveness

Short Summary

Tom Spenser and his partner happen upon a cache of heroin and an envelope of money at one of their suspects's homes. Two doors down a woman miscarries after a violent fight with her husband. Both incidents change the courses of the lives of everyone involved. Many murders and much collateral damage.

Tom solves the cases, but at an extreme cost to both him and the people he loves. He has experienced grief, pain and betrayal but has also learned humility, forgiveness, demonstrated courage time and again, and allowed himself to love. Not a 'happy' ending, by any stretch, but he can rebuild.

About The Author

Brian Ellis is a former Soldier and Paratrooper whose career spanned 22 years in the Infantry, Signal Corps, and mostly Airborne Units. to include three deployments with the 82D Airborne Division, to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Hurricane Katrina. He served two more combat tours, in Iraq as a State Department police advisor and in Afghanistan as member of the 42D Military Police Group. Brian retired from Active Service in 2016 as a Major. He currently lives in Washington DC with his family and dogs. Redemption is his first book. "I began Redemption in the middle of my 4th deployment during my down time. Wrote in bursts off and on between August 2012 and December 2018. I was fascinated with films and shows that revolved around the antihero cop / villain dynamic, such as HEAT, the TOWN, We Own The Night, The Wire, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, True Detective,Pride and Glory, Righteous Kill, Homicide, the Departed, and Brotherhood, and pictured the setting of the book Redemption to be part of a 'what-if' universe." "What if I had never left Pittsburgh? What if my brothers were closer in age to me? What if we had all been cops? What if my dad had been a cop as well?" (Coincidence/fun fact: I wrote the stash house explosion scene in my book around 2013/2014. It was duplicated near perfectly in setting / scenario in True Detective season 2, 2015/2016. But it would be a common scenario in a volatile setting)
