Development Pitch

"The bet" combines a mystery thriller with a coming of age story. It is set in the mid 19th century and has a strong fairytale theme. In combination with the mysterious events involving the seven deadly sins, the movie has a strong gothic horror/mystery appeal and should be for all ages (up from 13 years). The level of "spookiness" can be adapted in case also a younger audience should be reached. To keep the production cost low, it can be filmed e.g. in Czech Republic, the production cost are approx. 2-5m USD. "The Bet" is for fairytale and gothic horror-lovers. My better version of "Something Wicked This Way Comes" (1983) with a touch of "Seven" (1995) and "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory" (2005).
