Development Pitch

A traditional crime fiction tale populated by relatable characters, set in the timeless landscape of eastern Scotland. Tom Guthrie is a character in the mold of Ian Rankin's Rebus: Old-school, forced into retirement, and hating every second away from the Force. Police Scotland has changed and he couldn't, but he still has his supporters within the service. Alisdair McEwan is teamed up with him as Guthrie is asked to help with a murder investigation. Alisdair is young and ambitious and wants to be more like Guthrie than perhaps the police will allow him to be. This story is perfect for adaptation into the first of a series. The characters quickly grow on the audience and the other character, the atmospheric landscape, helps draw them in. This genre very popular on both sides of the Atlantic, and would possibly be best-suited to a streaming service. There are currently 10 plots in the works for these two main characters (as well as others who are introduced in book 2). Think: "Rebus" (Ian Rankin) meets "Shetland" (Ann Cleeves).

About The Author

Allan is a leading figure in the business aviation community in the United States and continues to work with both industry and government leaders to formulate a safer aviation environment. Allan has been a long-time fan of crime fiction and in particular that which is based in Scotland. Since turning his hand to writing, he has found out that reading it is easier. Consequently, he’s spending more and more time in front of his computer. Living in the US makes him much more appreciative of his homeland, and certainly more patriotic than he probably would have been if he were still living in the UK. He’s trying to work out if this is a good thing.
